Registration is now open. If you are a speaker, sponsor, volunteer, or staff … you should already have or soon be receiving an email with special registration instructions.
Working Schedule Released
There have been changes in our schedule, but it has moved from Draft to Working status. This means major changes should no longer happen, and most shuffling should be time slots of talks themselves. View it here.

SELF “Front Porch” Mode
So you can’t make it to SELF this year? No problem! We’ll have a “Front Porch Mode” page featuring live streaming coverage and interviews by Jupiter Broadcasting, links that update to presentations as they go live on YouTube, hash tag feed (with hilarious hash tag collision), IRC channel, and Boss Button. The link will go up in the days before the event … so stay tuned to our social media or subscribe to our low traffic announce mailing list to get the link as soon as it is ready.
We are OUT of hotel rooms on the 11th and 14th. We’ll try to add some more first thing Thursday morning. Stay tuned for details.
We have added more rooms to our block at the hotel. Get ’em while they last!
We are pleased to announce a draft schedule for the 2015 SouthEast LinuxFest. Please note this schedule is subject to change, even potentially drastic change, at this time.
Click here to view the draft schedule.
Some special events to be aware of:
– BSidesCLT is again back on Saturday
– There will be an UbuCon on Friday
– There will be extended Chef Training provided by Chef on Friday
– We are again having the Zero To DBA track
– We are again having a Craft Beer Bottle Share (details in the schedule)
– We are tentatively having a Geeks With Guns Event (details in the schedule)
If you are coming to SELF, I encourage you to book your hotel room RIGHT NOW. Availability is dropping fast, and we will once again run out of rooms. We can still add rooms to our block when we run out, but our outstanding rate with free wifi expires May 10th. So if you want the the great rate and free wifi … do not delay. Click here to book your room.
We’ve been quite busy at SELF, and you all have been quite busy with those lovely taxes that were due today. So we’ve decided to extend the deadline to submit your talk to SELF until Saturday 4/25 at 11:59 PM ET. We’ll choose talks quickly thereafter. Click here to submit your talk to SELF.
We are pleased to announce the 2015 SouthEast LinuxFest will be held June 12-14 at the Sheraton Charlotte Airport. Stay tuned for announcements in the coming days of several major sponsors, and more details regarding affiliate events. But we are pleased to already announce BSidesCLT will be coming back again this year, now with 100% more Regin, questionable hard drive firmware, and Lenovo pre-installed “features”.
Our RFP is now open. Our sponsor prospectus is now available and we are now accepting sponsors.
We encourage you use our various methods of keeping up to date and especially encourage you to subscribe to our YouTube channel and low traffic (less than 10 emails a year) announcement mailing list.
Another SouthEast LinuxFest is in the books. We’ll be updating the site and unleashing a deluge of videos in the immediate future. In the interim, I encourage you to join SELF-Announce. Going forward all important announcements related to the event (Dates, Venue, RFP, Call For Sponsors, Schedule) will be pushed to that list. It will be low traffic and should be roughly 6-7 emails a year, so don’t worry about a spam filled inbox.
Now that SELF 2014 is in the books, we’d like to take the time to thank those who went above and beyond to help make this year’s event possible:

The final schedule has been released for SELF 2014. A link to the PDF is below.
SELF will be ordering t-shirts for the event by close of business on Wednesday June 11th. We will pad that order a fair amount, but once that padding is gone all ordered t-shirts (add-ons, supporting attendees, etc) will be shipped to their recipients in the weeks after SELF when we make the second and final t-shirt order.
Some of SELF’s fans and volunteers have organized a Craft Beer Bottle Share as well. The idea is to bring various microbrews from around the southeast and share them with other beer aficionados at SELF. Obviously you must be 21 or older to participate. Info/Participate: http://goo.gl/GJBKJm
SELF 2014 Final Schedule
With the exception of the 21st, our block at the Sheraton (and indeed the entire hotel) is sold out. We were setting up people with mixed lodging at the Hampton Inn and Sheraton but now the Hampton Inn is sold out too. Here are some alternative options:
Easy walking distance: Comfort Suites Charlotte Airport
Easy walking distance: Spring Hill Suites Charlotte Airport
One mile away, walk directly up Scott Futrell to the Sheraton: Courtyard Charlotte Airport
One mile away, walk directly up Scott Futrell to the Sheraton: Holiday Inn Charlotte Airport
Registration is now open. Our propaganda page for this year is now up. We have added several positions to our job board. There are new open carpooling and room sharing requests. We have updated the schedule and all tentative events are now confirmed with set times. We have added rooms to our block at the hotel nearly a dozen times already … and we are bumping up against total sell out at the hotel on several dates. Our rate also expires on the 29th of May. So this really is your last chance at a hotel room. So book now!
