One of the most frequent questions we get is “Could SELF ever happen in (insert city other than Charlotte here)?” We would love to take the show on the road! Here are a few considerations we need to make for such an event:
- Do you have some local volunteers who can help? How many?
- Do you have a suitable local venue? We recommend a hackerspace or getting a student group at a .edu to sponsor space. Both are very very cheap options (< $1,000 all in, particularly at a .edu).
- When were you looking at having the event? We recommend over a weekend and staying away from the dates of major regional and national community events like SCaLE, SELF, TXLF, LFNW, OLF, and Red Hat Summit.
